A couple more pictures

Here is Jordan in another Christmas dress... this one compliments of Grandpa Todd (YeYe) and Grandma Paula (NaiNai). Thanks!!

And here is a picture of Jordan with all of her cousins. Left to right: Miciah (8 mos.), Jordan, Chloe (19 mos.), Eden (2 1/2 yrs.), Ezra (3 1/2 yrs.). There are two more cousins currently on the way, too! (Peetri the dog also snuck into the picture in the background.)

Christmas Dress

Here is another picture of Jordan in her pretty Christmas dress. If you can't tell, she was digitally captured in the midst of saying "WOW!" - expressing astonishment at her own fashion prowess.

Christmas Eve

OK, we are slowly recovering from our techinical difficulties. Here is a picture of the fam on Christmas Eve just before going to church. Don't my girls look beautiful??

Thank you to Great Grandpa Ion for Jordan's pretty dress!

technical difficulties

Yes, we know that it is two days after Christmas and we have not posted any cutie-pie Christmas pictures. We have the pictures, we promise. But for some reason, Jamie's dad's computer is not allowing us to add pics to our posts...maybe it is a blogger issue, we aren't sure. At any rate, we apologize for the delay and will be getting you the desired photos asap. ;)

We hope that you all had very a Merry Christmas. :)

more fun with YeYe

Here are a few more pictures from YeYe's visit. One is before Ben's Christmas party, where Jordan is wearing her pretty Chinese outfit YeYe gave her.

The other is her showing off how YeYe taught her how to point to her nose on request.

a visit from YeYe

Jordan's YeYe Todd (YeYe is Chinese for "grandpa") is in town for a visit before Christmas. Here they are snuggled up on the sofa together. They are having lots of fun getting to know each other better and Jordan is quite busy wrapping YeYe around her little finger. ;)

split lip

Last night Jordan fell down while carrying a spoon & empty coffee mug (don't ask...) and she got her first bloody, split lip. She cried for a few minutes but was happy once she got a bag of frozen peas to suck on. Here's how the boo-boo looks this morning. :(

more hats!

Have you seen enough of Jordan in her hats? She is posed here in her favorite winter hat. :)

She is learning lots of new words and can show you her hair and her shoes if you ask her to. Her favorite things to say are "uh-oh" and "wow!" both of which she says lots!

Bath Time Fun

Here is a cute shot from a recent photo shoot in the tub!

(She's grawing on her plastic fishy.)

**PS-We have received several complaints about our sluggish posting as of late. The administrators of this blog sincerely apologize and will try to do better in the coming weeks. ;) **

Christmas Cheer

Jordan hopes that you are all getting in the holiday spirit! She's got out her pink Santa hat & loves wearing it!

Yesterday we went to story time at the library for the first time. We got to sing while shaking jingle bells, listened to a couple stories, danced, made a craft for Daddy, and ate a gingerbread man...all this in less than one hour! :) We then got a few new books to read and Jordan got herself a library card! It was a fun morning, and very, very Christmasy.

feeling better

Just a quick post to say that Jordan seems to be feeling much better. She had a good morning at school & is back to her happy self. Thanks for your prayers and concern.

Another Ear Infection

Well, this isn't a very pretty picture, but it wasn't very pretty when Jordan woke up this morning with a temperature of 104.8. That was enough to get Mommy & Daddy awake & moving without any coffee at all! After a quick trip to see Dr. Ryan, we found that Jordan has another ear infection (#3). She may also have a viral infection, too. Poor baby. The tylenol & motrin seem to have kicked in, though, and she is back to being mostly happy, albeit a little sleepy. We welcome your prayers for her quick recovery. :)

Mama's birthday

Sarah celebrated her birthday this year with an airplane ride to Michigan for Thanksgiving with the Henderson clan. There was a cake and celebration waiting for her when we arrived. Jordan was more interested in Sarah's cake than she was in her own two weeks ago.

Playing Hats

One of Jordan's favorite games is "hats" where you take turns with her putting on her hats. She also likes it when you put them on the dogs. This was a shot during a particularly fun round of hats the other day. ;)

12 month check up

Jordan had her 12 month check up with Dr. Ryan yesterday. She was 29 inches tall (50th percentile), 23 lbs. 7 oz. (85th percentile), and her princess crown was 47 cm (90th percentile). Dr. Ryan gave her the thumbs up & Jordan was a champ for four more shots! Since she is now a "walker" she got the shots in the arms this time, instead of her thigh. She was also given the ok to have a blanket in bed, which is good because we are supposed to hit the 20's for night-time lows this week.

This is a totally unrelated picture of Jordan in the yard today...but I thought it was cute. :)

Stirrin' It Up in the Kitchen

Here is Jordan enjoying her new play kitchen! She knew just what to do with all the stuff & is especially enjoying the cell phone...she holds it to her ear and says "hi!"

Not zero anymore

Jordan celebrated her first birthday today! She spent the day with mom and Grandma Jan, who threw her a great party tonight - complete with cake, presents, and lots of friends. Here are some pictures (click to enlarge):

Jordan wasn't quite sure what to do with her cake until we gave her a fork. After she dug in, though, she found that she loved the sweet taste of cake in her mouth... and on her nose... and cheeks... and forehead... and hair....

A visit from Ireland

There was a rare sighting in Charlotte this week - Tim O'Neil was home from his missionary work in Ireland for a short visit. He and the Lily Bean had their first meeting (Tim finished his furlough last fall only days before Jordan was born) and they hit it off smashingly. Jordan was excited to hear that Tim will be returning to the states in January for a year or so, so she will get to hang out with Uncle Timmy on a regular basis!

Testing Dad's resolve

I must admit that I personally detest the Halloween holiday. I decided that Jordan would not take part in it and that emphatic decision lasted all the way until ... well, her first Halloween. One of her friends from school celebrated his first birthday tonight and had - of course - a Halloween-themed costume party. I crumbled under the pressure and we took Jordan - in costume no less. She was a little Panther and I must admit that she and the other kids were pretty cute. Ah, this Dad thing is gonna be tough... :)

(The birthday boy is the shark in the middle who had just removed the dragon's head prior to the picture.)

Hangin' with the Bae's

Rich Bae (a friend from high school) and his wonderful wife Susan are in town for a spell doing missionary training. We had a chance to have lunch with them today and Jordan won them over - of course!

Throwing kisses

Jordan was practicing throwing kisses...and she wanted you to have one! :)

next few steps

Jordan was practicing walking solo last night during small group. Our friend, Kenneth, was quick enough to catch a few shots on the camera for all to see!

First Steps

While there are no pictures to document this momentous evening (mostly because both Jamie and my hands were required to keep her encouraged and safe) Jordan took her first few steps tonight! She went back & forth between the two of us several times and seemed to really be enjoying herself and loved all the clapping we did for her. She's still pretty cautious, though she is great at falling down safely, landing on her bottom. We are so proud of her, aren't you?

crying over unspilt milk

Now that Jordan is close to being one, we are trying to get her to drink her milk from her sippy cup, not her bottle. Today's effort elicited several tears and the super sad face...which made for a few hilarious photos. Suggestions, anyone?

Weekend Getaway

Jordan took her first trip to the Carolina mountains this past weekend. We stayed in Asheville, drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway, went to the top of Mt. Mitchell. Here are a few shots of the trip.

On the parkway... Walking with Daddy around the lake in Montreat...at the top of Mt. Mitchell...and cruising around Asheville!

Good Dental Hygiene

Forget any razzle-dazzle toys... Jordan's favorite object of late is the free toothbrush I picked up at my last dental visit. (For any of you wondering, it wasn't used yet!) She loves to play with the toothbrush, but if I actually try to scrub her little chompers, well, then, that's a different story!

(and for those of you keeping up with the tooth count...we're at 4!)

Food nap

Oh, to be a baby. There's nothing quite like falling asleep in the middle of dinner, food in hand. Don't we all wish we could live so free? :)

Counting Sheep

The developmental information for this age (10 months) states that children may begin to test parents at bed time.

Jordan has no idea what they're talking about.

(Photo taken at 8:45 PM...Jordan's bedtime-7:30 PM...oh well!)

Team spirit

Jordan wanted to show you her Panthers jersey, even though it didn't do the trick for the team today. We'll wash the peas off of it, though, and have it ready for next week's game.

On another note, both of Jordan's top front teeth have come through. They don't show up in the pictures yet, but not long now...

Yard Work

Fall is here & the leaves are falling. Jordan, of course, wanted to make sure that we got a jump start on the raking. Here are some shots of her in action and after the hard work is done.

the little panthers fan

As you may know, Jordan is a pretty big Carolina Panthers Fan. She makes her daddy watch the games every week. Things took a turn south last weekend when she decided to nap thru the New Orleans game, but she rallied her energy this week for the New England game & we won! She wanted ya'll to see her new Panthers hat!

Piggy Face

Jordan has recently begun experimenting with various facial expressions. This one we affectionately call her "piggy face." Piggy Face is given as a sign of greeting (hello and bye-bye), approval, and to make us laugh. So, while it isn't her very cutest look, it's what she's into these days. And, let's be honest, it's still a little cute... ;)

the new dairy queen

We told you that we would have something important to post soon...Yesterday was one of those gorgeous late summer afternoons in Charlotte. We celebrated with Jordan's inaugural ice cream cone. Being from the Lowther/Henderson lineage that she is, Jordan immediately knew the virtues of ice cream. She repeatedly signed "more!" to let us know this stuff was a-ok! Yes, Jordan, there will be plenty of ice cream cones in your future! :)

For the love of dishes

Yesterday Jordan was "helping" with the dishes as I loaded the dishwasher. When I closed it and turned it on, she just hadn't had enough. She pulled up and gave the dishwasher a hug. I think Sarah and I are gonna like this parenting thing... :)

(I know you love the randomness of our updates. Hang in there, if you're lucky we may post a picture of something really important soon - perhaps Jordan getting her fingernails clipped...)

Showing off

Immediately after publishing the previous post, Jordan decided to show her walking skills and wanted to be sure that you all saw her stuff. She can be quite adamant, so here's another picture.

Cheers!

Everyone raise thier sippy cup... Jordan is doing great and adding new tricks all the time. She is cruising on everything she can pull up on and even walking behind a baby push toy (behind her in the picture) with no help. She is crawling on hands and knees, but still goes to army crawl when she really wants to move. We are giving her more and more table food and she showed a particular fondness for Sarah's cinnamon roll this morning. She must be my child. :)

Nine month photo shoot

Here are some recent pictures from Jordan's 9-month sitting at Wal-Mart. Enjoy!

Friday, August 26, 2005

Just for the record...

... Jordan does NOT like hummus. We gave her some to try last weekend and it so offended her little palate that she made some of the funniest faces we have ever seen. Alas, we did not have a camera ready, but who knew? I suppose that nine months may be a tad early to introduce Middle Eastern cuisine :)

I feel pretty...

Jordan says she thinks she looks pretty in her new dress Nai Nai sent her. What do you think?

Choices choices

Lately, there has been some debate in the Henderson household over the best thing to do with Jordan's bangs - to cut or grow long. Yesterday, Jordan submitted her own alternative.
