Five Years with Jordan Lily

Five years ago, Jamie & my life changed forever with the birth of Jordan Lily. She was born at 5:33pm, 8 days past due. She was a beautiful baby and sweet from the start. We fell deeply in love with her.

Today, Jordan is a loving, bright girl who loves all things pink and princess. This past year she taught herself to read and is reading great. She also loves to do math problems and is basically better at math than her mom. Her love for art continues and she has been doing some really great projects at school this year. Some of her artwork will be for sale at a local art gallery Christmas show, even. Jordan has been increasingly dedicated to her study of ballet. She loves her teacher, Ms. Jackie, and she is often found practicing her poses and moves. Other favorite activities are playing with her Webkins, pretending to be a princess or ballerina, and dressing up. She's very girly, and prefers to wear skirts and dresses (so unlike her mom). She loves to tell us all about her day, her ideas, her thoughts. She's such an extrovert!

People often tell us about how sweet and kind Jordan is. She's very thoughtful toward her little siblings and is great at playing with them. She is such a helper to her mama. She has several friends and I've noticed that she goes out of her way to make sure that everyone feels included. She has a compassionate heart. She already expresses a love for God that is genuine and alive for her. It's really amazing.

We're still so in love with this little person. She's a delight to us...and hopefully to you, too.

Davis' 10 Month Update

On Monday, our little guy was 10 months old. This is all going too quickly. He's a great crawler now & loves to be on the move. He's gotten very good at finger-feeding & likes to eat things like banana pieces, black beans, rice, pieces of cereal. He's transitioned well to a sippy cup. He's pulling up like crazy and cruising along furniture. He has new sounds like "ma," "dee," "jo." Jordan is convinced that he is trying to say JoJo. He might be. "Dee" is pretty much for "daddy." "Ma" has absolutely nothing to do with me. :) If you ask him for a kiss, he will give you a big open mouth one! This is his favorite book! We have to read it every day & night before bed.

Big news--hooray!--after consulting with my dear friend who is a sleep psychologist, she determined that Davis had developed "Sleep Onset Association Disorder." After a clearly defined sleep routine was established & bad habits broken, we are thrilled that Davis is sleeping in his own bed & from 8pm-6 am. He's had a great developmental jump following this. Mommy & Daddy are getting lots more sleep now & we are much happier, too.

Davis continues to be a happy, smiley little guy. He's just really cheerful. He seems to make friends wherever we are. We feel so grateful for his easy-going nature. He loves his sisters so much & wants to be with them a lot of the time. We are so lucky.

Pumpkin Patch

We took our first trip to a pumpkin patch yesterday at a neat place called Hodges Dairy Farm. The kids really enjoyed the trip. We got to pick out pumpkins, see some farm animals, and go through a tall grass maze. The weather was practically perfect. A fun fall day for all!

SUCH a BOY!

Davis acts like a boy. Which is fine, 'cause he is. But sometimes it catches us off guard, and is really funny. I am not exactly sure how this whole episode got started, but had been going on for a while when I grabbed the camera.

Unfortunately I missed videoing the day that Jamie was using his staple-gun & Davis literally was rolling on the floor laughing.

Mini Pumpkins

The other night we decorated mini pumpkins. The girls had a blast with it & worked really hard on them. We thought Davis was especially talented. ;)

Grandpa Harry & Grandma Arliene

We had visitors from Michigan this week and enjoyed spending time with Grandpa Harry and Grandma Arliene.

Jordan & Grandma played lots of games, including one two hour game of Uno.

They took the girls shopping for fancy dresses.

Davis learned which college football team he is supposed to root for.

We spent lots of time cuddling and hugging. The girls loved to listen to Grandma's stories!

Thanks for visiting! Hope you had as much fun as we did!
